Bomb Threats

Verbal

Keep the caller on the line if possible and try to obtain the following information:

  • Time set for detonation.
  • Exact location of the device. Description of the device.
  • Reason for the threat.
  • Exact words used by the caller.  (Try to note voice, manner, accent, speech patterns, etc.)

  • Note any background noises such as street traffic, office machines, voices, music, etc.
  • Make the following calls, but DO NOT USE A CELL PHONE because it may detonate the device.
    • Notify the Police Department at 911 and any other appropriate agencies.
    • Notify your office manager or supervisor.
    • Notify the management office at 302-650-3741.
    • Follow the instructions of the local authorities.  Follow Evacuation Procedures if asked to exit the building.
    • Remain available because law enforcement personnel will want to interview you.

Written

  • Save all material, including any envelope or container.
  • Avoid unnecessary handling since every possible effort must be made to preserve evidence.

Suspicious Package (s)

  • Make the following calls.   DO NOT USE A CELL PHONE.
    • Notify the Police Department at 911.
    • Notify your office manager or supervisor.
    • Notify the management office at 302-650-3741.
    • Follow the instructions of the local authorities.  Follow Evacuation Procedures if asked to exit the building.
    • Never disturb a suspicious package or device.
    • If a suspicious device is located, follow evacuation procedure.
    • Exit the building immediately.

Anyone having knowledge of an unsafe condition in the building should inform the management office immediately at 302-650-3741.
